n case you're wondering, this year's title translates as 'Life in wartime.' The subtitle is attributed to Patricia Campbell Hearst during her kickass 'Tania' incarnation. It's all about #resistance, defiance, and defending your principles. We're not kidding around, folks. This is war. We're fighting for justice. Hold on tight, 'cause we're gonna go through some real tough shit. To inspire us during these trying times, we have dedicated this year's collection to some of (her)story's nastiest women. These ladies will grab back, and do it with glamour!
Curatorial notes: yes, it's all quite roots/ alt-country/ bluegrass-heavy this year-- deal with it! Actually, the folkie trend has been drifting onto these surveys for quite a few years now.
Everyone also knows that according to mixtape rules, you should not place the same artist on back-to-back tracks. However, we're not living under ordinary circumstances-- we lost both Prince and Bowie in the same calendar year, while western democracies are collapsing everywhere. Hence, in their honour, and to commemorate their passing, we have broken the rules with a pair of tracks from each artist.
