Ways you can help__________________

By Recycling and Reducing the Uses of Bottles and Cans:
(Items 1, 7, 15)
  • Reduce the amount of trash that piles up in our landfills. When we prevent our landfills from filling up too fast, less people will have to suffer the fate of living next to a landfill
  • Reduce the amount of air and water pollutions resulting from manufacturing of beverage containers
  • Save natural places from being destroyed for aluminum mining and oil, which are raw materials for making bottles and cans. Wildlife habitats are also saved
  • Save water, energy, and solid waste resulting from manufacturing new bottles and cans

By Recycling and Reusing Paper:
(Items 2, 3, 6, 20, 21, 22, 25)
  • Save trees from being cut down. Trees can reduce the likelihood of mudslides and keep our rivers clean by preventing soil erosion
  • Save wildlife habitats
  • Trees help undo global warming, which may lead to extreme temperatures and storms, flood and drought, and rise in sea levels, etc.
  • Trees help clean and refresh the air
  • Reduce air and water pollutions resulting from paper manufacturing process

By Conserving Water:
(Items 4, 10, 19)
  • Save wildlife habitat
  • Prevent hazards of sinkholes
  • Keep plants growing in the prairies and in the farms
  • Reduce pollutions resulting from water treatment

By Conserving Electricity:
(Items 5, 23)
  • Save forests from being destroyed by acid rain
  • Leave enough energy resources for future generations and ourselves at old age
  • Prevent global warming, which may lead to extreme temperatures and storms, flood and drought, and rise in sea levels
  • Save people living next to power plants from being exposed to toxic pollutions that may harm their health

By Not Using Disposable Utensils and Dining Wares and Grocery Bags:
(Items 8, 9, 11, 12)
  • Save more people from breathing in toxic fumes emitted from plastic and Styrofoam manufacturing plants
  • Save people living next to plastic and Styrofoam plants from exposure to high cancer risks
  • Save oil (raw material for plastic and Styrofoam) from being exploited and save natural places from being destroyed for oil
  • Leave more energy resources for future generations and ourselves at old age
  • Reduce the amount of trash that piles up in our landfills. When we prevent our landfills from filling up too fast, less people will have to suffer the fate of living next to a landfill
  • Less disposable chopsticks means less chopping down of trees/bamboo forest, and less bleach and preservative that you have to eat

By Eating a Healthy, Sensible, Vegetarian Diet:
(Items 10, 13, 24)
  • Save Earth's food resources. Plant foods can feed a lot more people than the equivalent amount of animal meat
  • Animal compassion. Establish good karma with other living beings
  • Prevent air, water, and solid waste pollutions generated from animal farming
  • By not wasting food, we save water, soil's nutrients, and energy used during harvest, transportation, and cooking
  • Organic foods do not contribute to toxic chemicals being released into our rivers and oceans
  • Organic foods keep toxic chemicals out of your body

By Driving Less:
(Items 16, 17)
  • Contribute to less smog and save more people from suffering asthma
  • Reduce the amount of toxic waste and pollution resulting from the making and using of oil and gasoline
  • Save oil from being exploited and save natural places from being destroyed for oil
  • Leave more energy resources for future generations and ourselves at old age
  • Prevent water pollution from oil deposit on roads and car wash

By Reusing and Recycling Electronics:
(Items 18, 19)
  • Prevent toxic metals from polluting other people's groundwater and soil
  • Prevent people from getting harmed by toxic waste
  • Reclaim energy resources and reduce pollution that go into the making of the electronics
  • Keep precious metals from being dumped out as trash. Prevent more natural places from being destroyed for metal mining.

By Using Environmental Friendly Products:
(Items 27, 28)
  • Support less-polluting ways of manufacturing things
  • Prevent toxic chemicals from polluting our waters
  • It is good for your own health

By Reducing the Amount of Your Trash, Buying Only Things You Really Need, and Repairing/Reusing Things Before Throwing Them Away:
(Items 21, 26, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35)
  • Reduce the amount of trash that piles up in our landfills. When we prevent our landfills from filling up too fast, less people will have to suffer the fate of living next to a landfill
  • Save some natural places from being destroyed for the extraction of raw materials to make these things
  • Reduce the amount of air, water, and solid waste pollutions resulting from the manufacturing of these things
  • Save more people living next to manufacturing plants from exposure to toxic pollutants
  • Save energy during manufacturing and transportation processes. Leave enough energy resources for future generations and ourselves at old age
