Domba Kecil originally formed in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1981. Originally known as the "Child Evangelism Center," we ministered only in Sunday Schools. Not long afterwards, our burden for children increased. The Lord showed us the priceless value in the souls of children in His sight and the extreme importance of winning souls while they are young. We noticed ministries aimed specifically to children were few and far between.

We received a calling to develop a more effective children’s ministry program. Since 1982, doors have opened in across the entire length of the Java island, and even as far as Irian Jaya. In 1986, our ministry became a full-fledged foundation, with the new name "Domba Kecil".

Sadly, in 2000, one of the founders, Peter Djatmiko, went to be with the Lord. His wife, Tanti, continues to carry on the vision to reach children for Christ!

Foundation: Mark 10:14 "But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for such is the kingdom of God."

Independent: Being independent of any denomination, we desire to serve all churches who need our help.

Finances: Our ministry is mostly self-supporting. From products we create in-house, such as puppets, books, and more, every Rupiah made goes right back into the ministry! Gifts for our traveling ministry help us reach people outside of Jakarta, while gifts of facilities and building supplies help us to expand our facility to reach more to Christ!

Our longing is that children might know the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. But a child cannot make a choice for Jesus or a decision to follow Him before the Good News is made clear to them. Because of this, we desire to help them understand the news of the Gospel by preparing children’s Bible lesson materials—which are suited to their cultural background and their ability to understand.

Our concern is also for others, who, like ourselves, feel the burden to spread the Gospel to children. By providing guidance to other children’s workers, we can thereby accomplish our main goal of reaching more youngsters to Christ.
