ENTRANCE
The entrance is usually open but when coming home
late at night, it can be opened with a numeric password which changes time
to time.

LOBBY
Students often come to the
lobby whether to watch television, read the daily newspapers, or just chat
with friends. Also in the lobby is the watchman who will give awful
stares at night.
|

KITCHEN
Quite a lot of the students use the kitchen tocook
although there are just two simple burners. I have even seen people steam
fish over here. On the refridgerator for this floor is a sign roughly translated
as "no stealing food." It is sad to say, but there are a number of thefts
that occur. My cake...

MEN'S BATHROOM
This is the little boy's room. Pity the soul who lives
right across from this room constantly listening to the sounds of the flushing
toilet. All the toilets are Western-style, and not of the squat type. The
showers are quite clean, but can be annoying when the drains are clogged.
|

2nd FLOOR HALLWAY
The hallways in general are
quite dark at night. However
during the day, a lot of light comes in from the windows at the end of
the hallway. The water from the water fountain tastes kind of
gross. The board on the right is used for announcements.
|

DOOR
This is my room. Raymond and I stuck
our name tags onto the door. The red sheets of paper are wishes
of good fortune written during Lunar New Year. My calligraphy
is quite terrible, is it not? The ones that do looks good were written
by Kiyoko.
|

OUTSIDE THE ROOM
This is a view of looking out to the hallway frominside
my room. I havea clothesline to dry my bath towel, and laundry when I don't
feel like using the dryer. My trusty umbrella is hanging on theside
of my closet. At night, I am surprised by the number of people who
sleep with the door open.
|

BED
The bed is one thin hard mattress, but I love it like
that although many exchange students complain about resulting backpains.
I store my suitcase, and my shoes (New Balance 451 & Jason Kidd Nike
basketball shoes & Nike boots). There is also a basketball under the
bed. |
|
CLOSET
My closet looks quite messy, but it isn't really so.
I keep all my clothes in here - including my dirty ones. But themoth balls
makes it so that the closet doesn't smell. I didn't really buy that many
clothes in Hong Kong although I should have bought more because clothes here
fit better than the ones in America - not to mention more stylish. |
|

CEILING FAN
This is a view of the top part of my room.
This being Hostel II, has no air condition. What we have instead is
a simple rotating fan. Often it is not enough. The lantern hung
up is from the mid-autumn moon festival. In the background placed by
the window are film containers, all empty. As can be seen, I have taken
many photos in Hong Kong! White containers are Fuji and black containers
are in general Kodak.
|

DESK
This is where I study, that is when I actuallydo study.
On the board are various souvenirs, photos, postcards, calendar, phone number
list, King of Fighters keychains, etc... The lamp and containersare a courtesy
of former OISP exchange students. The green book is myChinese textbook.
To the right are two alarm clocks that I use to wakeup. One isn't enough...

SHELF
On the bottom shelf are all my 60 photo albums (with
negatives sticking out), CDs, and Lonely Planet guides of Chinaand Japan.
The middle shelf has manga, textbooks, and a Kenshiro action figure. The top
shelf is my kitchen cabinet with pots & pans. Yoshi and Makiko left me
plenty of food! On top of the shelf are toilet paper, flashlight and some
junk
