Dragon Tour
Saturday, December 12th, 1998

Toshihiro, Dragon, and I went to Marco Polo Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dragon's friend Rika had came to Hong Kong to visit. We all took the Star Feery across Victoria Harbor. We planned to take the free shuttle bus to the Peak. However after waiting for about 45 minutes, the bus still did not come and so we decided to walk. Walking took less than 10 mintues!!! We reached the Peak and walked around, taking pictures of the city. I have not yet been to the Peak during daytime so it was pretty interesting.

The Entrance to the Peak Tram

After finishing the Peak, we all rode the tram to Wan Chai. We got off and then ate at a western restaurant. It was cheap, and we all ate spaghetti. Afterwards, we walked back to Central to go to Mandarin Oriental. Rika had travelled to Hong Kong with some of her friends. While she and her friends were having afternoon tea, Dragon, Toshi, and I were walking around. Toshi needed to find a restroom and we went into several hotels and shopping places but we still couldn't find one. However, Toshi eventually found one, and it was at a pretty high class hotel. We returned to Mandarin Oriental and we were introduced to Rika's friends, Akiko and Yachan. We rode the tram again, but this time to Causeway Bay. Dragon wanted to show them some unique Chinese foods so we went to a store selling turtle jelly, which is a healthy food made from a turtle's shell. They are sold both hot and cold. Rika really seemed to like it!

Lots of Turtle Jelly for sale!

Rika, Akiko, and Yachan wanted to go shopping for clothes and they wanted to go to a certain place, Island Paradise, right across from Sogo. This is a shopping center filled with many small shops selling fashionable clothes for young people, mostly female. After an hour, we walked on Lady Street where they went shopping for bags. Temple Street was next. It was very crowded...in fact I found that part of my backpack was partially open. Maybe someone tried to steal something from me, but I made sure that I have nothing valuable inside my bag. I also bought some soup made of chicken and fake shark fin for $10 from a food stand. It was worth the money because it was really delicious. At first I was concerned with the hygiene, but I was reassured by Dragon. Besides, I waited until Toshi had bought it and finished it before getting my own. Finally, we went to Hui Lau Shan to have mango pudding.
