Advertising with Toshi & Minori

I volunteered to help out the Nobirukai/JCCCNC booth at the Japantown Street Fair. It was Miki, the Nobirukai intern, who invited me. My duty was PR, meaning that I was supposed to advertise the booth to the people passing by. I was a bit uneasy doing this at first, but after Kyoko and Toshi (SFSU) joined in, there was no one who could not hear, "Teriyaki Corn! Hawaiian Chili Rice! Mecha Mecha Oishii!!!" (In Kyoko's case, it is Oisi!) At night, Miki had a farewell party at a bistro, as she was leaving for Gifu in 2 days. It was there I got my first taste of creme brulee.

In front of the booth
ojisan can yell!

top: I'm taking a rest. Fumi & Toshi came over to say goodbye to Miki but they ended up helping us for quite a while

right: The people in the tent cover the corn in teriyaki sauce and then wraps them up for the customers.

These corn cookers are so enthusiastic about their work. They had a little celebration dance when we sold out all the corn. But their hard work didn't end over there. They went on a crazy Hawaiian Chili rice campaign by walking around, approaching strangers, and giving them samples of the chili. In the photo above, they try to appeal to a baby and a mother!
