If you need extra support in a class, please refer to this list of on-campus resources for academic support. We recognize that asking for help can be an intimidating experience and we are here to help demystify the process to the best of our abilities.
UME Tutoring: We partnered with Berkeley Economists for Equity (BEE) to offer one-on-one tutoring every semester. Email us for more information!
UME Study Groups: Connect with other UME members who may be in similar classes as you. Let’s keep each other accountable and help each other succeed! Email us for more information!
Office Hours: Office hours are a great place to find help. Most classes allow you to attend office hours from all the GSIs teaching your course. We recommend you attend office hours from multiple GSIs, when possible. Professor office hours are also a great place to seek help, most of the time they are empty!
Department Tutoring: The Economics Department offers tutoring for Econ 1, Econ 100A, Econ 100B, and Econ 140. The tutors are graduate students pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics. Click here for more information.
SLC Tutoring: The Student Learning Center offers tutoring in Economics for Econ 1, Econ 2, Econ 100A, Econ 100B, Econ 140, and Econ 136. The tutors are Cal undergraduates who have taken the course previously. They offer tutoring as well as exam reviews. Click here for more information.
If you are struggling in a class, do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to support you in this major as much as we can. Economics is hard, and needing to seek help does not make you any less capable than your peers.
