[1] The kanji used for 'togaranai' comes from the verb 'togu' (to sharpen/hone), but it is conjugated like the verb 'togaru' (to be sharp). This could make the sentence mean that one's claws (which could symbolize one's heart, according to Chihiro no Sekai) are already dull and can no longer be sharpened.
