About me
I graduated in June 2020 from University of California, Santa Barbara with a double major BS in Ecology and Hydrologic Sciences and Policy. From the start, I’ve always been interested in research, and involved myself within different projects and fields to gain a larger understanding of formal scientific study.
After graduation I was admitted to UC Berkeley’s Environmental Science, Policy, and Management (ESPM) Doctoral Program, and am currently working under Dr. Céline Pallud. My research interests include soil biogeochemistry and ecosystem ecology, specifically looking at soil microbiology under the context of drylands ecology.
Outside of my academic interests, I am also very interested in and involved with outreach and science education. I have formal pedagogical training through certifications and courses with both the UC Berkeley School of Education and UC Santa Barbara Gevirtz School of Education, and worked extensively as an informal science educator in a non-traditional interactive STEM space (MOXI, Museum of Exploration and Innovation).
Currently, I am co-chair of the Programs Committee through Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) , a conference providing 5th-8th grade students with female and queer identities hands-on STEM experiences and interactions with womxn scientists. I am also part of the founding team for Real Talk Buddies, a student-led organization at UC Berkeley dedicated to developing mentorship culture and creating connections between graduate and undergraduate students within UC Berkeley.
My goals are to make academia a more positive space for meaningful mentorship and experiences outside of traditional expectations. Alongside my academic research goals, I am excited to develop beyond traditional academic culture and measure of conduct, working towards making science an inclusive and positive space.
