Thu - October 27, 2005Workshop: Contemporary Midwifery and HomebirthWorkshop: Contemporary Midwifery and
Homebirth
This presentation is open to women and men interested in alternative birthing options, the history of lay healers / midwives, the current politics around childbirth and midwifery, and the hospital industry and "managed care." Sarah Pontell has delivered over 500 babies in homes, hospitals and birth centers in several countries, and will address the importance of family-centered, low-intervention birth. In this interactive workshop we will explore together preconceived ideas about birth, and how pregnancy/birth became medical events and pathological conditions when they are some of the most normal and natural events of our lives. Birth videos will be shown. Read More Workshop: Taoist Medicine and Martial ArtsTaoist Medicine and Martial Arts: Philosophy,

everyday experiences. Because this is true, our bodies are a tremendous resource
for knowledge and healing. After a brief history of Somatic Psychotherapy you
will have the opportunity to explore your own wisdom. This will be primarily an
interactive workshop in which I will invite you to participate in several
experiential exercises. We will explore the concepts of boundaries, sensory
awareness and grounding. We will have time to come together in pairs and as a
whole group to share our experiences. There will be time for questions at the
