Individual-Rankings
The Fred Sanford Tournament was held today in Charlottesville, combining
with Carneige Mellon's X Bowl as one of the first tournaments of the 98-99
season. A double round robin was played using a combination of submitted
packets, X Bowl packets, and packets written by the UVA team. The team of
How Stella Got Her Gerbil Back took home the championship with a 10-2
record, beating out the fiesty Gorditas! Gorditas! (Marlyand) team on the
strength of head-to-head point differential. Several upsets occured
during the course of the tournament, as teams rose to the occasion on the
variety of packets used in the course of the game to surprise their
opponents. In all, it was a strong 7-team field which featured the
aforementioned teams plus Jerry Springer's Kids(Shawn Pickrell and
Georgetown), Magnificent Bastards (Penn), two teams from Johns Hopkins and
Delaware's Apocolyptic Whores. Greg Sorenson of How Stella Got Her Gerbil
Back won the tournament MVP award, taking home a Jerry Springer video in
the process.
More details will be forthcoming, but I am witholding further comment
until I can review the final stats and ensure that the questions can be
discussed at this time.
