4 out of 5 experts agree - this is a real album

While, in the previous letter, we spoke of beautiful mod drawings by 4 year old Ethan slated to adorn future newsletters, he has been forced to interrupt his promising art career in order to devote time to correcting Steve Turner's spelling, grammar and mindless malapropisms, as you can see from the extensive work he had to do in order to make Steve's double-decker thoughts presentable in this highly sophisticated publication. Since Ethan is overworked as the official Mudhoney Tutor, we would like to fill this space with a letter from the disgruntled, irritated, bemused, disappointed, annoyed, displeased, and down right fed up fan department.

Hey Pricks-
You owe me $6. Half the price of your new cd. I don't need a bunch of backwards shit. Maybe I don't get the point, I don't care. Self righteous bastards. The forwards music is cool, anyway. Send me a check.

Martin

Editor's note:
What Martin has failed to realize is that he should be sending the Mud Guys his life savings for including that brilliant, unlisted 13th track (CD only). First of all, the trained musical ear will quickly perceive that this is not a Mudhoney original, but a cover of the Beatle classic "Revolution 9". What other band would be so daring as to perform a version of that tune!? Painstaking care was assigned to ensure that Ren's sax solo would sound backwards exactly like Yoko Ono screaming forwards. Has any band cared so much! Some hidden messages include (at 3'31") "I'm gonna let you lick the spoon." Which is obviously the band's call for world peace, harmony and gettin' along in general. C'mon guys, don't fight over the frosting and let the other guys lick it. Also, (at 13'30") "Red fish, blue fish". This is a clear reference to the Dr. Seuss book. Obviously they are telling us that if people read more Seuss and fewer newspapers we would all be happier. Clearly, (at 30'51") you will hear "Well, I wish I was the new Pope". Uhh...I don't know what they are talking about there, but the point is that experts tell us that those who listen to the now infamous "13th track" will be more productive citizens. I've got to send a copy to Charles Manson today! Anyway Martin, if you take some of Matt Lukin's advice on relaxation you would, at the very least, find the 13th track amusing even if you don't discover the prophetic backmasked messages. We'll be waiting for your check.

Thoughts from a double-Decker bus

Hey Kids (old and young),

OK, we're in Europe, touring, bringing the Grunge Revolution/revival to the masses. First time in 3 years, you know. We live in a double decker bus, which is great if you're 5'2" like Dan, not so great if you're 7'0" like Lukin. the shows have been top notch - we're beginning to remember how some of our songs go, even. Spain, Italy and Holland get the big thumbs-up, mainly due to where the best food, wine or beer were found.

Lots of foreigners asking what "My Brother the Cow" means, as if we'd tell them. It's all in the lyrics, man, just LISTEN! Hobnobbing with the likes of Love Battery, Cosmic Psychos and Thee Headcoats is a rare privilege, and hard on the Liver. I'd trade my guitar for a good burrito right about now...

See Ya in the Pit!
Steve
