Course Description: This is the third course in calculus for students majoring in mathematics, physical science, computer science, or engineering. In this course, the concepts of differential and integral calculus are extended to multivariable functions. The course content includes vectors in two and three dimensional space, vector-valued functions, differentials, gradients, multiple integrals, vector fields, line integrals, surface integrals, and vector calculus.
Time Commitment: This course is only recommended for students who are willing to put in the time necessary to be successful. Students are expected to spend at least two hours studying outside of class for each hour in class. Each week, there are 4 hours and 20 minutes of class time. That means that students are expected to spend at least 8 hours and 40 minutes outside of class each week. In total, students will be spending at least
13 hours
with the class (time outside of class + time inside of class)! Again, don't take the class unless you are willing to put in the necessary time. There are many young college students who are willing to work hard
at math

Head Start/Recommended Videos: For those of you who are looking to get a head start on the course, I recommend watching multivariable calculus videos from the following four talented mathematicians:
Michael Hutchings (UC Berkeley Mathematics Professor, Harvard
Math
PhD)
Denis Auroux (UC Berkeley Mathematics Professor, Former MIT Associate Mathematics Professor, Ecole Polytechnique
Math
PhD)
Adrian Banner (Princeton lecturer, Princeton
Math
PhD)
Travis Kowalski (South Dakota Mathematics Professor, UC San Diego
Math
PhD)
