Class II: 6th at the 1991 USGF Junior Championships, Los Angeles.
Class I: 14th at the 1992 USGF Junior Championshps, Texas.  15th at the 
1993 
USGF Junior Championships, Michigan.  1st at the 1994 USGF Junior 
Championships in the AA and Vault.  Competed at the 1994 Olympic Festival 
in St. Louis.

NCAA Accomplishments: Score career high on the Pommel Horse with a 9.80 and was the only Bear to qualify to the Nationals for the All-Around Competition where he placed 15th.

Senior Division: 1st Place at the 1995 National Championships in the All-Around for the Team 2000 division and competed at the World University Games in Japan during the Summer of 1995.

Personal Information: Josh is one of the clean and explosive gymnasts of the squad. His quickness and dynamic abilities make him a key performer for the Bears on every event. Watch for Birckelbaw to be a contender for an All-American position in 1996. Before coming to Cal Josh maintained a 4.1 GPA at Elk Grove High School in California. He enjoys playing golf and tennis on his spare time. In his hometown of Elk Grove lives his parent, Tommey and Randy, his sister, Ingrid, and his brother Todd.
