The Alpha Iota Charter
The Alpha Iota Charter of Sigma Psi Zeta (ΣΨΖ) is the first Asian-Interest sorority in the Panhellenic Council at UC Berkeley. In the spring of 2014, a group of young undergraduate women came together to form a long-lasting friendship. Away from home for the first time, the sisters longed for a companionship that would bring them close to each other. They wanted to establish an organization that would let them share their beliefs while empowering Asian and Asian-American women. They envisioned a family of sisters that would support each other and help each other grow as students and women.
Sigma Psi Zeta, Inc.
Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority, Inc. is a multicultural, Asian-interest sorority founded at the State University of New York at Albany. March 23, 1994 marked the beginning of the sisterhood of Sigma Psi Zeta. Today, it has grown to become one of the most extensive and vibrant Asian-interest sororities in the the nation. There are 29 sisterships in the United States and we are the third largest Asian-interest sorority nationwide. SYZ aims to promote the understanding of Asian/Asian-American culture and heritage though leadership, outreach, and most importantly, the bonds of sisterhood. Through a network of highly motivated and open-minded individuals, the sorority lends structure and support to the sisters who share this vision. As individuals, as an organization, and as members of our various communities, we strive to be the best we can be and embody the ideals of Sigma Psi Zeta.

The Ten Rays of Sisterhood
When our sorority first began, our ten founders came together to establish an organization that would better their university and community. These ten women united together to create a lasting entity. The Ten Rays of Sisterhood, like the ten Founders, form the basis for our sorority. They are the characteristics all sisters work to best exemplify.
