The Cathedral
Dedicated to S. Giorgio in 1135 , the front of the Cathedral, tripartite by two spiral buttresses, preserve in the inferior part the Romanic original mark . From the second half of the XIII century to the first years of the XIV, the building was modified , and the Gothic decorations were added.

 

The Estense castle
Magnificent Renaissance residence, built as a fortress in the town center, in order to frighten firstly the people of Ferrara , that frequently rose up against unbearable taxes and duties. Niccolo’ II the Lame committed the works to Bartolino da Novara.

Palace of the diamonds
Started by Biagio Rossetti at the end of the XV century and completed in the following one , owns its name to the external marble coating , constituted by pyramidal marble blocks with quadrate base, whose vertexes oriented in different ways on the three levels of the building , in order to exploit the maximum of light and give the palace better brightness and different colours in the hours of the day.
