Brown Coat
Mix up the 1-kote and sand exactly the same as the scratch coat. I suggest you mix this coat wet, going on top of the first coat will such the water out of the mix and will dry very quickly (in just a couple of minutes). Apply this coat with a rubber type of trowel.
On the picture above, where the side of the concrete walkway is, you have to should apply a compound before you mud it. Apply Weld Crete with a paint brush and let it cure at least 24 hours. This compound will atach itself the the concrete and the 1-kote mix will stick to that.
