Everyone meet Anna!
Introductions. Anna just came back from study abroad in Thailand, so needs to meet new faces.

Mentorship program – connecting older LASR members with the young ones
Fill out the questionnaire – will be paired based on your major, personality, interests
This program will involve social and academic activities
Contact Nency if you want to participate (nency_vang@berkeley.edu)

Small and large group discussion:
1. What would you all like to see happen in LASR this semester?
2. What types of activities would you all want to do?
3. How would you help in making questions 1 and 2 happen?

Notes from discussion:

- more interactive, hands-on workshops
- learning about each other’s cultures…awareness, language immersion, embroidery
- involvement in community, like outreach to local community and schools
- perform a show, like puppet show with Laotian themes, for Ban Lao TV
- academic support and retention of members
- attend conferences
- networking; get to know other organizations; have others recognize LASR
- maybe turn LASR into a service org rather than a social group through ASUC; lots more support from ASUC as a service org
- fundraising!
- connection to professor/faculty for advising and assistance
- Create a comfortable atmosphere – a home away from home – a good start is in social events
- need commitment and motivation

Officers really appreciate all your input, and will try to put these suggestions into planning for the semester.
