School Templates...
...a la Jeffrey.
Here are a few document templates I made to organize my life at school.
Feel free to download them and customize to suit your situation. They are in Microsoft Word (.doc) format and were made on a Japanese PC, so they contain some Kanji to match similar Japanese documents you might find around the office. I suggest that you save your customized templates as .dot files to make using them easier.
Please enjoy the benefits of an organized school life!
- High School Lesson Plan / Elementary Lesson Plan
Impress your JTEs by handing them a clearly laid out lesson plan before class. These templates are ready and waiting for you to input the details with MS Word. Or, if you prefer to handwrite your lesson plans on the go, try keeping a stock of this Blank Form on hand for a clean, organized look.
- High School Lesson Record / Elementary Lesson Record
Be more organized than your JTEs are! Keep track of your classes' progress with this simple record chart.
- ALT Weekly Schedule and JTE Class Assignments
Ever wonder what all your JTEs are doing during the week, and with whom you are actually assigned to team-teach? Fill this out at the start of each semester for a handy reference of WHO teaches WHAT and WHEN.
- Monthly Class Schedule
This is the single most useful template in the entire ALT world. At the beginning of each month, work with your supervisor to fill this out to include holidays, special schedule changes, exams, class cancellations, business trips, and special school events. Double check class cancellations, etc. with the other relevant JTEs. Then use it to plan out your month of classes and lessons. Your supervisor will possibly hate this the first time, but when they see that for the rest of the month you leave them alone and act independently and purposefully and keep the other JTEs on task with your schedule, how can they not love your pro-active efforts.
- Special Movie Schedule
If you need to get your regular classes to the A/V room for a movie or presentation, or something like that, avoid confusion by filling out this schedule and handing a copy to each JTE ahead of time.
- Announcements
If you just need to make a short announcement to hand out to your students, or to the homeroom teachers, etc., use this simple blank form. In the top box type your message in English, and have your supervisor translate and type the Japanese in the lower box. Copy it to the second set of boxes, print it out, and cut in half on the paper-cutter. Watch your fingers!
- School Information
Visiting multiple schools can get confusing, and sometimes it helps to have some basic information on all your schools available in one place. This template is designed to do just that.
- Custom Graph Paper
This one isn't mine, but I include it here because it's so generally purposefully useful... a site that creates .pdf graph papers customized to your specifications of paper size, grid size, grid shape, etc. And it's free!
