Programming, Service, and Administration

The Programming, Service, and Administration chair is responsible for thematic programming, setting calendar with professors and others for guest speaker series, movies, dharmik-related events, and other opportunities. While the schedule will be built with the entire board, this committee oversees its completion and logistics. They also help set up seva-related events in terms of logistics required. Along with the Communications Chair, they lead the JMC meetings.

Uplifting Sikh Voices

The Uplifting Sikh Voices Chair’s main role is base building of the chapter on campus. This department enjoys being social and enjoy connecting with others. In addition to these responsibilities, the chair will serve as the lead to organizing social events responsive to student needs and concerns. It is also important to create social events with other campus organizations that are meant to build relationships in a comfortable and fun setting.

Coalitions, Solidarity, and Partnership

Community Engagement

The CE committee is responsible for designing and managing projects intended to help students become competent community leaders with a deep understanding of their peers and the world around them. Furthermore, they are responsible for determining CE Associate project assignments. Working with on (and off) campus advocacy organizations (i.e Peoples’ Program), they are responsible for advancing campus relationships with organizations of interests and finding events/partnering on events where we can amplify and build join goals through educational workshops, community organizing, and program development (1-2 events a semester). They may also seek connections with other off-campus organizations (including other Sikh orgs), faculty, and other groups of interest. They will give updates to the board about ongoing events on and off campus.

Finance and Government

The Finance and Government Chair is responsible for managing the development of all Finance and Government programming. Furthermore, they are responsible to create relationships with ASUC senators, stakeholders, Equity and Inclusion officials, and build a JMC presence at ASUC meetings as RSO representatives or guests. One of the fundamental roles of this position is to learn about the various student funding and working with other campus organizations on how they built their budgets and devised their campus goals and objectives. The committee is responsible for holding at least 2 fundraisers per year. In addition, the chair is responsible for creating a year-long budget that will consider the expenses of various student programming that JMC will undertake.
