The Intellectual Property Society (IPLS) caters to the interests of all budding Intellectual Property lawyers!
IPLS is committed to cultivating research, discussions and advocacy in the field of Intellectual Property Law.
We strive to provide all kinds of fruitful opportunities for the students interested in intellectual property law,
thereby strengthening their ties with the Berkeley Law community. We work towards:
Building networks between intellectual property law attorneys, advocacy organizations and the Berkeley Law student
body in order to promote the field of intellectual property law;
Spreading awareness of intellectual property law as a career path for young scholars in the Berkeley community at large;
Providing training opportunities for students and supporting the intellectual property law curriculum at Berkeley Law.

Vincent Joralemon
2L, Class of 2024
Vincent received his degree in biology from U.C. Berkeley. After that, he taught high school science in New York City for nearly a decade.
This past summer, he was an Intellectual Property Fellow at White & Case, and will be joining Cravath, Swaine & Moore this summer.
He is interested in the intersection of policy, institutional motivations, and innovation in the life sciences.
Linda Chang
1L, Class of 2025
Linda received her bachelor’s degree in computer science from Brown University and master’s degree in computer science from the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She worked for almost three years as a software engineer at Nasdaq. This summer, she will be a 1L Diversity Fellow
at Fish & Richardson. She is interested in patent litigation and high tech innovation. A fun fact is that Linda has spent about one third of her
life living in New Zealand, one third in Australia, and one third in the United States. In her free time, she likes to play chess, read fiction,
and go indoor climbing.
Joy Lee
LLM, Class of 2023
Joy recently received her Bachelors of Laws from Taiwan. Currently pursuing an LL.M. at Berkeley Law, she is eager to explore her interest in
technology law, especially in the space of intellectual property and data privacy. She is also (overly) passionate about food, always on the hunt
for new wine bars and restaurants. She runs an online bakery specializing in cinnamon rolls and scones, and next passion project: hosting and
coordinating dinner parties with home cooked meals and dainty flower arrangements (another personal interest!)
Marley Macarewich
1L, Class of 2025
Marley recently received her degree in Chemical Engineering with a Certificate in Spanish from Yale University. While at Yale, she conducted
research in environmental and biochemical engineering labs, worked for the DOT to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in trains, and designed novel
musical instruments. She is interested in patent prosecution and will be working at Morrison & Foerster in their Two Summer Patent Program. In
her free time she surfs, skis, goes hiking, and works at a Wild West themed camp for kids.
Mahima Madan
LLM, Class of 2023
Mahima who is a current LLM student, specializing in IP and technology Certificate is an Indian qualified attorney. Prior to this, she was working
as an IP attorney in India in law firms based out of Delhi wherein she used to handle contentious/non-contentious trademark and copyright matters.
With a deep interest in IP law, she has authored/co-authored various articles on hot legal issues in this domain in India. An interesting fact about
her is that she used to love teaching French to school kids back in India.
Jaanvi Rathi
LLM, Class of 2023
Jaanvi recently received her degree in Bachelors of Business Administration and Bachelors of Laws from Delhi, India in the year 2022. She is currently
pursuing an LL.M., specializing in IP and Technology Law here at Berkeley. She is a qualified lawyer and as a recent graduate she’s always had keen
interest in the legal realm of Intellectual Property and Privacy. She is fueled by the aspiration to contribute and the intention to give back more than
what she has received. In her free time, she likes to read, listen to music blasting on speakers or hang out with her friends. Whether free or not, the
last thing she’d want to do is cook.
Enid Yu
LLM, Class of 2023
Enid worked in technology companies in the semiconductor industry in Taiwan before she came to Berkeley for LL.M. As an in-house lawyer, she deals with
IP licensing, IP management and general corporate legal issues. She is generally interested in Intellectual Property strategy and international policies
regarding technology companies. In her free time, she likes to play badminton with friends and practice guitar and bass.
Jennifer Cheng
1L, Class of 2025
Jennifer received her degree in Economics with a minor in Chinese from UC Berkeley. She worked for two years at Ernst & Young and a year at Nimble Made
before coming to law school. This summer she will be a 1L Diversity Fellow at Pillsbury. She’s interested in blockchain, fintech, and the soft IPs. In her
free time, she’s learning ping pong, likes to judge boba shops, and is currently trying to un-spoil her cat.
Curtis Gile
1L, Class of 2025
Curtis received his two degrees in Economics and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Before attending law school at Berkeley,
he worked at a boutique consulting firm developing business applications for fortune 500 clients before transitioning into a team leadership position focusing
on business consulting and analytics. This summer, he will be a summer associate at Davis, Polk, and Wardwell in Silicon Valley. He is interested in the
intersection of law, economics, and intellectual property particularly in the realm of technology transactions. In his free time, Curtis is an avid ski
mountaineer and mountain biker and avid reader.
Edlene Miguel
1L, Class of 2025
Edlene received her undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics, followed by a Master of Computer Science degree from the University of Virginia. After graduation,
she worked as a software engineer at Roche for nearly 4 years developing data-driven personalized healthcare software used in medical diagnostics. She is a Wilson
Sonsini Diversity Summit Scholar and will be a 1L Patent Prosecution Fellow at Perkins Coie this summer. She looks forward to pursuing a career in technology law and
is excited to continue exploring her interests in intellectual property and technology transactions. In her free time, Edlene loves trying out new restaurants and boba tea shops!
Akshat Agrawal
LLM, Class of 2023
Akshat, who is currently pursuing an LLM, specializing in IP and Technology Law, is an Indian qualified lawyer and scholar. He graduated from Jindal Global Law
School in India in 2020, and worked as a law clerk to Justice Prathiba M. Singh of the Delhi High Court until 2022. He has also independently litigated IP cases,
specifically from the perspective of public interest to access research output. He is interested in IP theory, its interaction with the Law and Political Economy of
education, health and culture. In his free time, you will either see Akshat jamming or reading The Great Transformation by Karl Polanyi!

Electra Yao
1L, Class of 2025
Electra received her undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of California, San Diego. She developed a strong interest in IP and technology law
after interning for the Patent Group of Han Kun Law Offices in Beijing, and is excited to pursue that interest, especially in the area of patent litigation.
Right now she is especially curious about the intersection between law and AI technology. In her free time, she enjoys painting, tennis, hiking, and mailing
physical letters to her friends.
