Ocean Stories Podcast

The Ocean Stories Podcast highlights issues facing the Pacific region by sharing visions and lived experiences from a growing collective of Pacific Islander researchers, activists, artists, and allies. We seek to understand relationships between militarization, environmental justice, Indigenous cultural preservation, colonialism, climate change, and more.

Season one will focus on the state of Pacific Islands and Oceania studies in higher education and the barriers that Pacific Islanders face to accessing and thriving in academia. We sit down with Pacific Islanders across the spectrum of higher education to hear their perspectives and learn from their struggles and success.

Ocean Stories is hosted by the Critical Pacific Islands Studies Collective (CPISC) at UC Berkeley. CPISC aims to create educational and professional development opportunities, accessible research materials, and scholarly work based on the critical and equitable study of the Pacific.
