The Oceanic Podcast highlights issues facing the Pacific region by sharing visions and lived experiences from a growing collective of Pacific Islander researchers, activists, artists, and allies. We seek to understand relationships between militarization, environmental justice, Indigenous cultural preservation, colonialism, climate change, and more.
Season one will focus on the island Palau and how the issues the nation is grappling with connect to the broader region of Oceania. We sit down with Palauan students, activists, political leaders, and other community members to hear their perspectives and learn from their struggles and successes.
The Oceanic Podcast is hosted by the Critical Pacific Islands Studies Collective (CPISC) at UC Berkeley. CPISC aims to create educational and professional development opportunities, accessible research materials, and scholarly work based on the critical and equitable study of the Pacific.
