The Blessed Radiance and the God War
-
Shepherds of Rad: priestlike mages in Glantri, the shepherds of Rad are
the keepers of the Blessed Radiance, if we could talk to high up members
in their echelon it may help ... It's fairly clear they worship Rad, whether
intentionally or not. This may be a perversion with time of their original
purpose which might have been to maintain the knowledge of how to use the
Blessed Radiance.
-
If the Blessed Radiance is originally part of the Home System sun or a
device which can focus the power of the sun, it is a very powerful power
source.
-
Powers may be deities, it's not clear, they may be more primitive things.
Rad is a power not a deity. Perhaps the Shepherds of Rad created this power
by their original purpose evolving into a worship of the Blessed Radiance.
-
Darkness vs. light has similar parallels to the last god war in the faerie
eyes - death vs. life. The Home System war was fire vs. air. How does this
all fit in? What about order vs. chaos such as in the Cage?
-
I suspect some deities want Alphatia and Glantri to try harder and harder
to destroy each other, eventually resulting in Glantri using the Blessed
Radiance to cause massive destruction. I wonder if this is the plan of
the Brotherhood of the Radiance, it's certainly not the plan of the current
order. If neither, then someone else wants destruction - enter Alphaks.
-
Soul crystals seem to be a way to avoid the normal distribution of souls,
hence possibly why many other deities dislike Rafiel. Rad may do something
similar, considering no other religions are allowed in Glantri. Alternatively,
Glantri forbids priests to prevent priests being able to get near the Blessed
Radiance and act as a conduit for their deity using that.
-
The purpose of the Brotherhood of the Radiance may be to bring light to
everywhere, possibly using whatever the Glantrian refugees brought through
with them - possibly condensed power from the Home System sun which has
now vanished. The aims of the two opposed sides may be to bring light and
to bring darkness - this has strong parallels with the idea of balance
between life and darkness which the faerie mentioned. This would make sense
if Rafiel was trying to bring light to his people so they could have forests
underground.
-
Hel could be a member of the Brotherhood, but this seems unlikely if the
aim is to bring light to all of Mystara, as Niflheim was mostly pitch dark.
I wonder if Hel just wants the Brotherhood of the Radiance and their opposition
to make a mess, resulting in lots of deaths, which presumably is to Hel's
benefit. Hel may be trying to do things covertly, without the other Northern
Reaches deities knowing. Loki presumably is doing likewise. The idea of
Hel playing behind the scenes to try and cause more deaths makes more sense
in this light. Keep the facade of staying neutral. Torture a priest of
Nyx who found something out to ensure they didn't know too much about Hel's
plans. Makes more sense if Hel was from the sphere of death, more death
is to her benefit.
-
Could the god war conflict be being pushed by forces other than the Brotherhood
of the Radiance and the opposition? Perhaps this was why Hel was working
behind the scenes, torturing a priest of Nyx. Perhaps others stand to profit
from a different order, or will make gains in the war which results.
-
Hel went to Pandas on an important meeting. Now Pandas sounds very similar
to Pandemonium - where demons live. Maybe it is one of the major cities
there. Could Hel be working with Alphaks or others keen on destruction
to do major damage in general? Cause lots of death? Demogorgon is also
into destruction. Are there other deities as well?
-
Is the Blessed Radiance what the Brotherhood of the Radiance intends for
the mortals to use to swing the balance in the god war?
