Cal Copts Club Constitution 
Article I – Group Name 
Cal Copts Club is the title of the organization 
Article II – Group Purpose 
Unite the Coptic community on campus 
Expand understanding and participation in Coptic Orthodox values and culture 
Take up community service and volunteer projects to positively affect the surrounding community and neighbors 
Inspire leadership and service in Coptic youth 
Provide student support and assistance 
Provide fellowship across the Orthodox community 
Introduce Coptic culture and spiritual beliefs to those unfamiliar with it 
 
Article III – Membership 
Anyone with a sincere desire to follow the mission statement of the Berkeley Coptic Club is welcome to join the organization. Any off campus participants are guests and are not considered active members. Only currently registered students, faculty, and staff may be active members in a registered student organization. Only active members may vote or hold office. 
We will not haze according to California State Law; we will not restrict membership based upon race, color, national origin, religion, sex, physical and mental disability, medical condition (cancer related or genetic characteristics), ancestry, marital status, age, sexual orientation, citizenship or status as a covered veteran (special disabled veteran, Vietnam-era veteran or any other veteran who served on active duty during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized. 
Article IV – Officers/Elections 
The officers are as follows: 
Coordinator 
Assistant Coordinator 
Secretary/Treasurer 
 
These three officers constitute the executive committee. The Coordinator serves as the primary signatory. The Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator pick the secretary/treasurer together in April. Officers will be elected in April for the next school year. All potential candidates for officer positions must be a member in good standing for at least one semester. Terms for officers run from May of the previous year to May of the next year (one full school year). There is no term limit, meaning that an elected officer runs until he/she graduates. At time of Coordinator’s graduation, the Assistant Coordinator assumes the position of Coordinator. In the case of a Coordinator’s resignation, the Assistant Coordinator assumes position of Coordinator, and an election is held for a new Assistant Coordinator. If both the Coordinator and the Assistant Coordinator graduate at the same time, then elections are held to fill both positions. The elections are amongst active members (not including off campus participants) and a candidate requires a simple majority to win the election. There is no quorum, but there must be a minimum of 3 members voting in all elections.  
Article V – Meetings 
Meetings are to be held weekly, for duration of 2 hours. Meetings are to be called by the executive officers. There is no quorum. A call for special emergency meetings can be called by the executive officers. 
Article VI – Constitutional Amendments 
Any Constitutional Amendments must be proposed to the Executive Officers as well as the active members. After a discussion of the amendment, a vote on the amendment will occur the next week with a minimum of 3 active members voting and a simple majority required to pass the amendment.  
Article VII – Dissolution 
Dissolution will be proposed to the Executive Officers and active members. An election on the issue will take place within 30 days. A quorum of 2/3 (two thirds) is required for the vote to take place, and dissolution will pass with a simple majority. Unspent ASUC funds shall remain the property of ASUC. All Graduate Assembly funds shall remain the property of the Graduate Assembly. Remaining private funds will be distributed evenly 3 ways to St. Mary and St. Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in Concord, CA, St. Antonious Coptic Orthodox Church in Hayward, CA, and St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Campbell, CA with prior approval of the ASUC Senate Finance Committee.
