Tower Stuctures
Existing
Tower
Keustch,
Holzinger, Chuang, and Faloona
The
existing tower is an UpRight brand walkup-scaffolding tower. Groups
in the "current trailer" (see
layout) are expected to mount
their inlets (and instruments) on this tower.
The
UpRight tower is a 6 ft x 4.5 ft sectional tower. Each 6 ft tall
unit consists of a walkup staircase and 6 ft x ~2.25 ft platform.
This tower is 44 ft tall measured at the topmost platform where
someone can stand. This is the tower everyone saw when visiting
the site last September.

We have purchased a new scaffolding tower with a walkup staircase.
The tower has four platforms at approximate heights 14 ft, 27.5
ft, 41 ft and 54.5 ft. Each platform has guardrails and area 17
ft x 5 ft. The scaffolding frame rail size is 1.9 in (vertical
and horizontal).
There will be three trailers placed on the pictured gravel pad.
The articulated boom will be placed to the right of the tower
(in this photo). Please note that the trees surrounding this tower
are
about 30–33
ft tall, reaching
up just past the second platform level, are slightly higher
than those in the fetch (perhaps due to downslope into the fetch
from tower location).

The rented electric powered articlulating boom reaches a height of ~45
ft and has a 500 lb capacity with a lift basket. The base of the lift
basket is 26 in x 48 in and the basket sides are constructed of ~1.5–2
in bars. The two horizontal bars are at ~1.5 ft and 4 ft above the basket
floor and we expect there to be 4–6
vertical bars. For additional details please see the E45
scissor lift specifications powerpoint presentation.
