Title: Lighter

If I mention a kid and a lighter, what is below the number 5?

I don't get the bits you mentioned, but here are a few things that are commonly below the number 5:

[hide]2[/hide]
[hide]8[/hide]
[hide]R and T[/hide]
[hide]Fix[/hide]

Granted, the riddle has too many omitted parts. I wish I could offer a hint but I can't think of any w/o a giveaway.

What do kids like? One thing will do. But which?

Nope. Go way way back in time, before computers, before wives, when all kids were bastards, when America was found by brave pioneers like Lewis and Clark. No more ballyhoo. Be serious for a change, will ya?

Btw, you got any kids? If so, how old?

A birthday cake. Why don't you like kids?! The candle is shaped like number five. Why? Because he is five years old!

Ah, that is pretty cool.  I'm not sure there was enough info in the riddle for me to guess that, since in my country 5 year olds aren't allowed to use lighters.  Still a neat idea for a riddle though!!

Well use a match then. And thanks. Glad to be part of this riddling community. However, as of late, I am getting a peculiar feeling that, you and me are the only members here, which is ultimately wrong. It appears, aliens can be illogical as well.

I wonder if many of the other active members prefer the 'easy', 'medium' and 'hard' riddles, rather than the 'Who am I?' or 'What happened?' riddles.  Maths over mind-reading; literal over lateral.  I happen to prefer the latter(al) ones; but to each their own.

Of course many riddles have aspects of both.  At its heart, maths is about thinking outside the box.  The study of maths, complementarily, is about increasing the size of the box.

Increasing the size of the box? I'd like to increase something else, let me tell you. 'Another quaalude she gonna love me again.'
