Hey Raven, can I confirm something.
There are four riddlets, which give us four homonyms, which we use to form our answer, and the answer is related to the title.

Or, are there two riddlets of two lines each?

This is correct, and the answer will relate to the original clues to the four riddlets. Also, the answer is a homonym too.

You may find multiple threads started in this riddle, but only one takes you all the way.

This is a toughy. Gives us a little time. I made a nifty chart and have filled in the first column with nifty possible answers. The problem is none of the answers seems to work all the way across. (Plus I am at work, so I need to do other stuff too, you know, the stuff that they pay me for.) ;D

Ok, I'm going to put down some thoughts to get's things going.

Wrapped in the cover of darkness
The obvoius connection is night, perhaps an overcast night. It could also be something that occurs at night or some time/place that is also dark - perhaps something underground where no light can penetrate.

I plumb the depths of night
There's night again, but "plumb the depths" make me think of a mineshaft or similar thing. It may also be something that comes out only at night.

I catch you mouth wide open
There doesn't seem to be an obvious connection with night. The line makes me think of being surprised, or possibly drinking or eating.

Though shuttered from my sight
Makes me think of something that one cannot see on their own body, perhaps something in the mouth (relating it to line 3). Could also be related to blindness, which would relate it to line 1 (and perhaps the title).

Just some thoughts, no homonyms found so far. I'll come back to it once I figure out that infernal BB rebus.

Cathos, is your comment on the BB rebus meant as a joke? If so your wit is very dry.

For my thoughts, I also had night for the first one. Another Idea I had was "eye, as in when your eyes are closed.

For the second part, I had dream or sleep. This is a more metaphorical connection.

For part three, I have a long list, some of which are Kiss, Snore, Yawn, Chews, Cry, Bawl and Birth. There are a couple of night-time things, but I like chews, because it gives "choose" for a homophone.

For number four I just have "Closed" and a homophone of "Clothed"

So, that is where I am.

A wink is as good as a nod.

Hint One :: So far Cathos has stumbled across one of the answers to one of the riddlets, if he could but see the homophone that it is ::

Hint Two ::Homophone Def. One of two or more words, such as night and knight, which are pronounced the same but differ in meaning, origin, and sometimes spelling. ::

I'm thinking night, as well...especially with the homophone of 'knight' sitting there, too.

"I plumb the depths of night"
First thought was a mine, as 'mind' makes an easy homophone. Another thought was lead, as "plumb" is short for "plumbus," meaning lead. This leads to sewage...or DC drinking water...neither one of which is desirable.

"I catch you mouth wide open"
My first thought was of a bass fish, though I have no clue what homophone could come of this.

Though shuttered from my sight
I like 'blind' for this, as it relates to the other 'blind' as in venetian.

My thoughts.

Everyone likes night/knight, which is good, since it's the stage for this riddle, but it's not one of the actual answers.

Okay, if we have blind for number 4. Then I think we need to have bait/bate for number 3. This is EverGreenA3's answer, and Raven gave us a bated breath hint.

I guess the answer that Cathos got was blindness = blind.

Nothing from me, just trying to bring things together.

He's the son of one of my friends, pretty smart kid too.
But if you highlight that post of mine, you'll see that I mention in hiding that he guesses 'death' and .... ( almost got me on that one :o ) for most of my riddles.

For the third, I really like "fly".
Not a homophone, but many definitions from same spelling (homograph?).

Then again, horses are "caught" with a bit.

Horses are blinkered. Seems relevant for 4, and especially with title.

But horses don't plumb squat.

Blink... its a spell. Its a verb. Two verbs actually. Lights do it too.

Keep on thinking that I've got it. Then I think a little harder. :(

Well, I really like fly. Because I got bat for the first one. They fly around at night. But, that doesn't work.

Then you get blind as a bat, or flying blind. Bats ???? fly blind.

Also, maybe I ??? fly blind.

Okay, I do not think this is 100%, but..

1: Something, bat, raven,
2: Eyes, Eye/I
3: Fly/Fly
4: Blind/Blind

I figure that our eyes plumb the night. I still want to use bat someplace. "Bat, I fly blind." Seems like a good answer, but the homonyms get mixed up. Anyway, we need to "bat our eyes" to get blink.

Well Speaker, I have to give it to you...

Bat is what the eight year old kid said when I read "Wrapped in the cover of darkness", sharp kid that.

No one else that got this puzzle ( friends in the flesh ) got all the individual pieces to the riddlets ( you coined that word ), but they all eventually landed on Bat ( which is, I guess, better than bats landing on them ). But no one else made the 'we need to "bat our eyes" to get blink' connection. I thought you might though when I stumbled across this post... The second one down on THIS PAGE (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wwu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=riddles_easy;action=display;num=1079647325;start=78).

For all of you who need "resolution", these are the intended pieces to this riddle...
