Honestly, this stumped me until I read the hint.
Think [hide]Norse mythology[/hide] and you will get:

I suppose this is the intended answer. However, you could argue that [hide]they would have ten legs in all, as Sleipnir, to my knowledge, has eight legs and Odin has two[/hide].

As far as I know it's 'just' [hide]6[/hide], not [hide]8[/hide].

Maybe I'll do a little more googling on this point.
Actually, I had a bit of a strange feeling when first reading about the arachnid-like variant. But all links that turned up tried to convince me of this one being the real thing.
I'm not so sure anymore, but I know that I knew the correct number once. Weird... ::)
