There are too many answers that seem to fit this one.
From Lenin to the Sun or the Moon.

No, there's only one answer, and it's a living thing.

Sorry Icarus, I should have mentioned I didn't mean "everyone" in the entire world; I just meant it as a general term.

This one definitely needs to be tweeked.  Any Body of water could fit, but you said living thing.  OK, any animal without sight.  Any plant.  Really, we need more detail.

Heck, even "body of evidence" fits the riddle.

You do know it's a legend, right? They don't really "hide" -- the just appear to hide, as they're picking food off the ground.  ::)

Maybe the bird is a [hide]cuckoo hiding behind a door[/hide]

Thanks BNC for clarifying that; now I feel like hiding. It is a common assumption though-and you know what they say about assuming things.  :o

No - It's a good puzzle, at least with the added line. Just because what it refers to is folklore, not fact does not disqualify it. (Of course, some obnoxious person will always bring up  that it isn't true - but you have my permission to tell me to shut up. ;)) As for the original puzzle not being specific enough, these things often need a bit of work before they come out alright.

It's far better to have failed to formulate a puzzle perfectly on the first try, than it is to repeat a good puzzle, but mistate it so badly that the "correct" answer no longer works. You can find lots of those in this forum. One of the worst for this is the "gry" puzzle - so many versions of it are out there that no one is completely sure what the original puzzle was. Most of time when one comes across it, the version seen is just a lie, with no correct answer.
