If my statement told you the answer, then I am sure you know why I believe few others will understand it, even though it is from a book everyone has heard of. Since very few have ever read it, even of those who speak well of it. Besides which, my allusion is to an obscure event in it, and another obscure reference. The latter particularly is not likely to be remembered even by those who have read the book. Does not all this count as cryptic? |
