Title: I can sizzle like bacon
Post by aero_guy on Mar 10th, 2003, 11:02am
I can sizzle like bacon, I am made with an egg, I have plenty of backbone, but lack a good leg. I peel layers like onions, but still remain whole, I can be long, like a flagpole, yet fit in a hole. What am I?

You are [hide]a snake[/hide]. Nice one. The sizzle confused me at first, then I tried the sound!

Thanks.  Yeah, I thought of changing it to the more appropriate sound, but then an easy riddle becomes trivial.

The "I am made with an egg" I thought was a nice touch. Went well with the food theme without shouting "i'm a reptile (or bird)". Even the "fit in a hole" is a food theme (toad in the hole).

You call it a toad in the hole?  I take you are referring to a piece of bread with a circular hole and an egg fried inside right?  Never heard it called that before.

My toad in the hole (UK) is typically sausage embedded in a slab of batter. Take a look at http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/r_0000001030.asp.

I just spent a couple weeks hitchiking through Great Britain last semester.  I love the country (countries), the architecture, the history, and the people, but my God you people have nasty food.  Speaking of hitchiking, it is like Douglas Adam's take on train station food.
