Title: Of sports 'n athletes

The article: Tiger Woods' Affairs Cost Billions in Stock Market (http://www.livescience.com/culture/091228-tiger-woods-stock-market.html)

It looks like faithfulness translate into lots of $$ ... that faithfulness is good business sense!

And that "all publicity is good publicity" is a myth after all!

It seems that some celebrities, athletes can negatively impact a brand.

Why do people care so much? And, why do we hold these athletes to such a higher standard of behavior?

The consequence of Tiger Woods' bad behavior has been the lost of sports sponsorships.

These athletes are the property of corporations, and I thought that, for example, Tiger Woods' contracts with the different brands contain a clause that precisely define ethical conduct.

People are putting on small bets, probably so they can have a giggle in the pub and show their mate a betting slip ...

A higher standard compared to what ? I hardly think not cheating on your wife is a high standard of behavior, regardless of race, culture or religion.

No, no, you misunderstood. His promiscuous behavior is not the " higher standard of behavior" I was asking about.

We all know that Tiger Woods is a man with immense wealth and social status.

The media's and bloggers' reactions have expressed from big disappointment, outrage to disgust.

The corporate sponsors went into damage control mode.

The sport and the corporate sponsors had no trouble pitching its squeaky-clean image behind a star who had avoided even a hint of scandal.

He's no saint, not a religious leader, not a candidate to become a politician.

Yet, people in the media have said that he has damaged the game to a degree.

Other golfers are annoyed with Tiger Woods' transgressions because these golfers became famous and wealthy for having Tiger Woods playing in their era.

Golf gain more attention, respectability, more 'currency' because of Tiger Woods ... Golf became 'cool'
