Title: Unfaithful Post by alien2 on Sep 1st, 2013, 10:04am A private detective comes home early and says hello to his wife. She is wearing a bathrobe. He then enters the bathroom and concludes within seconds that his wife is having an affair with a man. He also suspects that the man is hiding somewhere in the house. Which clues gave his wife and her lover away? None of the man's belongings were in the bathroom. |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by alien2 on Sep 3rd, 2013, 1:39pm So-so. This time I'm looking for the intended answer only, where [hide]clothes and footwear in the bathroom[/hide] have no role in the riddle. So, any more ideas? |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by gotit on Sep 4th, 2013, 7:20am [hide]The floor around the bathtub was wet, suggesting that water had overflown from the bath tub. Since his wife was a small woman, he concluded that 2 people had entered the bath tub together.[/hide] |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by Death on Oct 1st, 2013, 6:27pm Since [hide]it's never stated that she's actually wet[/hide], [hide]any traces of a bath or shower recently finished would point towards someone else having just gotten out of the bathroom.[/hide] |

[hide]Her hair is dry.[/hide] So why did he suspect that she is having an affair with a man? The riddle is based on a movie. |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by Death on Oct 2nd, 2013, 1:25pm My first reaction would be gotit's: [hide]there's something that belongs to the guy (hair, fingernail clippings, etc.) in the bathroom, or something that belongs to the husband that the wife wouldn't use (e.g. moustache twirlers). Note: This does rely on 'the man's belongings' not including his own hair, fingernails, etc.[/hide] Alternatively: - [hide]He's extremely paranoid[/hide] - [hide]He's got other evidence of this affair[/hide] - [hide]There's a stranger's car parked in the driveway[/hide] - [hide]He noticed an unknown umbrella in the umbrella rack and it's raining extremely heavily outside[/hide] The last two would also explain why he suspects the lover is still in the house. |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by alien2 on Oct 12th, 2013, 3:37am Death you're killing me. ;D Not bad Nursejim. In the movie her lover took a shower. It has to do with something that [hide]women dislike.[/hide] |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by Grimbal on Oct 12th, 2013, 8:53am The obvious solution: He enters the bathroom and sees a naked man hiding in the shower. - He suspects his wife has an affair: he is a private detective, he knows that guy is not a plumber. - A man is hiding somewhere: in the bathroom to be precise. - None of the man's belongings were in the bathroom: in other words, he is naked. |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by alien2 on Oct 13th, 2013, 2:29am Nah, man. The man is hiding in the bedroom closet. |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by Grimbal on Oct 14th, 2013, 6:49am Maybe the wife looks suspiciously like a centaur under her bathrobe, but he distinctly remember her natural shape used to be different. Or maybe the shower is wet and the wife is dry. Or maybe there are small hairs showing someone shaved here. Or maybe there are no hairs, even though she refuses to clean them for him. If she did clean the hair away, she has something to hide. |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by alien2 on Oct 15th, 2013, 3:42am Spoiler! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Boy_Scout) [hide]Leaving the toilet seat up is more efficient, but putting it down is more considerate.[/hide] |

Title: Re: Unfaithful Post by Grimbal on Oct 15th, 2013, 6:36am OK given the very subtle hint, what about: [hide]When he left this morning he left the toilet seat down. And she would never leave the toilet seat up. But the toilet seat is up... So he shoots her. Later, while looking for something to clean away the blood stains, he notices that the detergent for the toilet is open and just besides the toilet. Hm.... maybe she was just cleaning the toilet and lefted the seat for that? Funny, he thinks, that she died because this morning he shat and didn't just pee.[/hide] |
