Title: Lady Luck
Post by alien2 on Oct 17th, 2012, 9:05am
Four friends are playing five-card draw in Marvin's apartment, who know each other to be all average and upright. Marvin is familiar with all poker rules, he can't guess the cards in hands of his opponents and his only desire is to win. The dealer deals him his five cards. Marvin looks at his hand to see a straight flush. After a round of betting, he specifies one card he wishes to replace and takes another one from the dealer.

If I tell you that nothing unusual happened, can you explain his decision for the new card?

[hide]Marvin placed a bet with one of his friends, saying that if he got a straight flush, he would pay him double the amount that he would win.[/hide]

Gotit’s answer reminds me of [hide]the Desperado scene with Quentin Tarantino when he tells a clever joke.[/hide] The intended answer is more along the lines of Grimbal’s answer.

Nope. You should focus on [hide]a straight flush.[/hide]

[hide]'his hand' refers to the dealer's hand[/hide]

OR

[hide]They were playing reverse poker. Straight flush would have the lowest rank.[/hide]

Nah. They’re playing regular poker.

Here’s a hint: [hide]David Beckham.[/hide]
