A man is shot once in the head while lying naked on his bed. Tomorrow the detective Columbo arrives at the crime scene. He looks at the two empty glasses on the table in the living room. The glasses smell on yesterday's whisky. He then proceeds to the bedroom. There is an ashtray on the nightstand, with a cigarette filter and ash. Columbo examines the body and everything in the bedroom for a few minutes, finding no additional objects. The detective infers or guesses correctly that the victim:

1. was married and his vision wasn't 20/20.
2. was a cat person.
3. played darts.
4. was visited by a man.
5. was visited by a female prostitute.

For marriage, [hide]There was a ring mark on his finger but no ring. This could also suggest that the man was recently divorced, but since Columbo did not find any clothes or wallet in the bedroom, he guessed that the man was married and that the wedding ring was stolen by the killer along with other stuffs.[/hide]

For 4 my thought was:
There was no lipstick on the glass.  And only males don't wear lipstick.  Therefore there was a male visitor.

For 5 my thought was:
There was lipstick on the filter.  And only female prostitutes wear lipstick.  Therefore there was a female prostitute visitor.

Unfortunately, this leads to a bad implication to what all women are, including Columbo's own wife...  :-/

The name of the prostitute, whom Columbo knew personally, was inscribed on the filter. And since there can be only one person with a given name, he knew about the female prostitute.

The body of the dead man was covered with scratch marks. And since cat is the only animal that scratches, Columbo knew that he was a cat person.
