Title: Can you recognize the faked flower?
Post by wonderful on Jan 10th, 2010, 3:36am
There is a kind of tree with beautiful flowers. However, not every tree has all beautiful flowers on her,  some trees even doesn't have any flower but instead people have to put faked flowers on them. These faked flowers are so well made that anyone, who is  ten meters away from the tree, would confirm that these flowers are real.

Can you, standing ten meters from the tree with faked flowers, recognise wethere they are fake or real flowers? Why?

[hide]Unless the lats sentence of the opening paragraph is false, I should not be able to see they are fake.[/hide]

Yeah, [hide]are you asking can you or how can you?[/hide]

[hide]If it's how, then you could burn the tree. The fake flowers would melt instead of burn (unless they were made of paper or something flammable). Or you could stand in strong winds. Assuming the fake flowers were made in one piece, they would either stay on or blow off in one piece, instead of feather off like real flowers.[/hide]

I would ask a skeptic to confirm if the flowers are real. :P

Is it just a play of words? Because the question says that I am standing 10 metres away from the tree with faked flowers.  ;D

Sure I could. Anyone would not be able to do so, but I'm not just anyone.  ::)

Observe the bees.  Bees don't fall for fake flowers.

Unless the fake flowers also provide nectar, or even just sugar water. There's plenty of research where they use fake flowers to examine bee behaviour.

Because the garden belongs to Chuck Norris and, how to say that, you just don't criticize Chuck Norris's flowers.  Or anything else.

Everybody can.  Who wouldn't spot that these are sunflowers on a cherry tree?  But nobody would admit it.

Block light to tht tree for a long period of time...if flowers die...they are real..if not...they are fake

Or put intense heat around it...(if u want early results)...real flowers will die soon

That depends in what sense the flowers are fake.

If a flower producer crosses flowers to get a special color/shape/scent/whatever and copyrights the flower, then a real flower would be such a flower produced by the legitimate owner of the copyright, while a fake flower would be the genetically same flower but produced by someone who doesn't own the right on the flower.  Real and fake flowers would be completely indistinguishable, regardless of what you do to them.

I think we need a clear definition what a fake flower is.

You could stand there for a week or so to see if the flower gets old and falls off, otherwise it is a fake flower.

The statement says that you can't tell if the flowers are fake or not. But you might be able to identify the type of tree. If the tree is not a flowering tree, then the flowers are obviously fake.

I expect that the oficial answer is Grimbals of hte bees- making it an adaptation of the wisdom of Solomon...

Another example of a bit of the bible falling from truth to allegory/parable as the world changes...?

You got a point there.  They are fake by definition.

I agreet hat it's a cute take on it, but I'm not sure that it holds.
Whilst you're 10 meters from the tree with fake flowers, you can also 10 m from a tree with real flowers, and you have be able to determine which is which...

The tree is known by its fruit.  :P
