Title: Under Water and completely unharmed?
Post by BenVitale on Jul 13th, 2009, 1:46pm
One very cold January morning in northern Ontario, Joe was on his way to take his daily walk down by the lake. He crossed the road quickly to avoid a large truck coming his way. As he reached the snow bank on the other side of the road by the lake he stopped and put his hands to his face as he felt one of his epileptic seizures coming on. The next thing he knew he was under the frozen water and unable to move.

"You were 3 feet under for more than 30 minutes," exclaimed a doctor later that day at the hospital. "But you're just fine and are free to go as soon as you warm up, just remember to take your epilepsy medication."

How is it that after spending more than 30 minutes under, Joe was completely unharmed?

[hide]Hypothermia.  It slows down the metabolism and reduces damage to the brain due to the lack of oxygen.[/hide]
