Two convicts are locked in a cell. There's an unbarred window high up in the cell. No matter if they stand on the bed or one on top of the other they can't reach the window to escape. They then decide to tunnel out. However, they give up with the tunneling because it will take too long. Finally one of the convicts figures out how to escape from the cell. What is his plan?

Heard this one before. I think [hide]towr [/hide] is right, unless BenVitale has thought of some alternative solution.

Yep, Towr is right.

I have revisited some of the old puzzles and have been trying to put a new spin on them, looking for alternative solutions.

I did not find any other solution to this one though.

Stand on top of the bed, then on top of each other. How much dirt could you get from digging away at a cell anyway ?

I don't suppose [hide]tipping the bed[/hide] would help them at all?

[hide]It would certainly give them more height than a pile of dirt would, with out alerting the guards anyway (they seem to have a dislike for inmates creating larges holes in the floors of their cells for some reason... :P)[/hide]
