Title: The will 11
Post by Iceman on Dec 10th, 2008, 6:16am
Derek passed away. He specified in his will that if his son, Timothy, guesses the number he had in mind, he’ll get most of his wealth. He left the clue for the number, the note below.

Did you ever see the planet Venus when it
rises as the morning star? Did you my boy?
What a beautiful sight. As for your mother,
she was Argus-eyed, I’m telling you. As if
she knew about me having an affair before
I had it. She almost killed my mistress Tina.
But I loved your mother in my own way,
& I’m pretty sure that she loved me as well.
I know how you love football and books,
which is an interesting combination, since
some say that football players don’t read
books. I loved hunting antelopes, mythology
& my favorite tourist destination was Siberia.
I hope your life is colorful just as mine was.

No, but I am curious about how did you arrive at this number.

Here's a suggestion: [hide]use wikipedia, because some parts of the note are not common knowledge.[/hide]

I see only one sentence that has to do with Greek mythology. :-[ ;) But what number goes with it? Hm..

Are these the first four?

And by football you mean American football or real football (soccer)?

American football, but that sentence isn't important.

How do you get these numbers? Now I'm puzzled. Then again first three numbers are correct. Misplaced, but correct.

Argus is the mythical 100 eyed creature...

Asteriod 'Siberia' is numbered 1094

I can say that the first number is 0. But I think we need some hint to crack this one.

Btw, has it got anything to do with binary numbers?

I had mythology in mind. And don't forget the antelopes, or wikipedia.  ;)  ::)

Only numbers 100. The rest of the numbers are not binary numbers.

First three numbers have to do with religion.

Are we in base 10 ? :P

Well you said that the first three numbers are 100, but not in that order. Yet the first number isn't 0. A bit paradoxical, don't you agree?

Sorry about that. 1st three numbers are not binary numbers. Here you go: ***100*. Stars represent numbers you must figure out.

[hide]357100*  3,5,7 have to do with the Siberian Religion, 100 is the number of eyes in the Argus mythical Creature, not sure about the last digit[/hide]?

The last number is about Siberian myth, and the 1st three numbers have to do with 1st sentence of the note.

3 digits for Venus would be 224 or 225 (the year length of Venus is 224.7 days).

I had something else in mind, something concerning religion. So what is another name for the planet Venus when it rises as the morning star?

[hide]1191003? Morning star is mentioned in 2 Peter verse 1 chapter 19 twice, hence 119, you gave us the 100 for the Argus-eyed, and I don't know if the last digit is 3 5 or 7 so I guessed three :) [/hide]

Naturally, I had to look all that crap up and new none of it off the top of my head...

Wow, I haven't looked at any of these will puzzles before, they are interesting, I'll have to think about this one, though I never will use wikipedia as I never trust it as a valid info source, ever.

I'd guess the last number to be 7, though

Well Venus has a number of different religious names, most famous (aside from Venus) is Aphrodite, from Greek Mythology (I can still remember that?!). But none that I can really attach a number to...

There are a few religions that give the morning star and evening star a separate name, like in Egypt: Tioumoutiri, and in Greek: Phosphorus. (They called the star phosphorus, not the god). But Phrosphorus on the chemistry table is number 15, unfortunately

I guess I'll keep looking

My info may be off, I was using wikipedia, because I'm running low on time. I'll do some actual research later

No winner yet, but I've decided to break it to you when it comes to the last digit. It's lame, but it is 6. Why? Because according to Siberian myth, six-legged antelopes were far too fast for human beings to catch. A divine huntsman, Tunk-poj, cut off the animal's rear-most legs to make the animal easier for humans to hunt.
