Title: Rookie
Post by Iceman on Aug 24th, 2008, 11:09am
It is a fair day and Tomas is patrolling the streets together with his rookie partner Timothy. They stop by the shop and Tomas gets out of the car to get the sandwiches. When he returns, he says that he can prove, w/o asking anybody anything, that someone was on this spot, probably parked, for more than 10 minutes. Timothy says: you’re full of it. Tomas replies: you want to bet for $50? Timothy says: you’re on! Soon after Tomas wins the bet. How did he win?

No parking tickets because it is not forbidden to park there.

A parking fine, then?

No other policemen are involved here, so no.

Or the obvious:
There is about 20 cm of snow everywhere, except for a rectangular car-sized spot that is free of snow.

Or he bought a post card in the shop representing that very shop 60 years ago, and it clearly shows a car parked in front of the shop.

- (rain instead of snow?) The road is wet except for the spot where the car stood?

- There is a fresh oil leakage visible? (Or water from the airco?)

- They needed one hour to find a free parking spot, having past the shop several times without any luck?

- There was evidence of a dog marking his territory?

Or he mentions that it took him more than 10 minutes to buy the sandwich.

There was no snow. It was summertime.

Not bad, but that is not the case here.

It wasn't raining that day.

No. He returned fast to the car.

Shucks, missed my chance !! Icey, I AM starting to think like you, cause when I read your riddles, I was imagining cigarette butts as well. Or maybe because I'm trying to quit smoking, and I can only think about cigs every hour or so.  :-/
