Title: humpty dumpty
Post by Iceman on Feb 29th, 2008, 9:50am

With all your might you squeeze firmly a chicken egg within your hand. But your fingers, and the table over which you're operating, stay dry and clean of any messy yolk and white. How's that possible?  ???

Soak the egg in a vinegar solution for a couple of days. Not only would it not break when you squeeze it, you can even use it as a rubber ball.

You didn't break the egg. You were squeezing in the wrong places.

No to both. You was squeezing it all right.

The chicken is still around the egg?

Egg. Chuck Norris came before all, and he's no chicken. 8)

Maybe he changed. Perhaps he's dead. Nobody lives forever. After all, even Superman was in wheelchair. From the strongest one he became the weakest one. What was it, carpe diem? I suppose that means something. Not to me though: I'm a riddler. Then again, hobby is a fine thing. Isn't it?

Btw, I'm a coward. There's no nobility in it, but you may live longer because of it. It's better to be a live dog than a dead lion. The only problem is, when you're a dog, you miss being a lion.  ::)

Quick note about chicken eggs:

The egg is oval-shaped (duh). If you squeeze the part with less radii, the egg breaks easily. But, if you squeeze the part with longer radii, the egg can withstand a lot of pressure. A human hand normally would not be sufficient to break an egg like that.

Is the physical property of the egg just like any other egg ?

Of course, since you asked how your hands and the tables are dry and clean, rather than questioning why the egg did not break, one can assume that the answer is because you're wearing gloves, and the table is covered with waterproof cloth. But that answer is so unIceylike, I don't think you'd stoop to that level of riddling, eh Icey ?

So you broke the egg.  Maybe the egg was in a sealed plastic bag?  In a condom?  You know you are not supposed to put the eggs in the condom?

Completely unrelated: Chuck Norris is no chicken.  A chicken has bigger eggs.

How did you get the eggs into the condom, w/out breaking the eggs ??

He never said the eggs didn't break.  He said "your fingers, and the table over which you're operating, stay dry and clean of any messy yolk and white.".

No cloth and no gloves.

You're damn right about that. My riddles are always advanced except for 90% of them.

Maybe the egg is frozen.  Can you break a frozen egg?

And actually, can you freeze an egg, so that it becomes hard like stone?

Maybe it is a chicken egg in the sense that it is a wooden egg (like those used to fix wool socks) but belonging to a chicken.

Sure, you can break rocks, an egg shouldn't be any harder to break.

The problem is that water expands when frozen under normal circumstance; if you use liquid nitrogen it might work though (that should freeze it quickly enough to stop the water molecules aligning)

Not by squeezing it with your hand.

......absolutely. Try it if you don't believe me. You could kill someone with it.

You know what? I just tried, with all my might, to squeeze firmly a chicken egg within my hand, and I've failed. It wasn't frozen or anything. Interesting.. All right, I don't have strong hands like bodybuilders do, but this is an egg I'm talking about. ???

Btw, no jokes about my manly, hairy hands. All right? >:(  :P

I don't know about freezing, but if you boil an egg slowly, for an extended period of time ( say about 5-6 hours ), the egg could be as hard as a rock. Not that it serve any purpose, unless you're planning to use a unique murder weapon.

Another solution is with an empty egg shell. You poke holes in the top and bottom of the egg and blow the insides out. That way, when you break the egg, nothing would get wet.   ;D

Some do this for Easter. Not me though. I just freeze the egg.  ::)

Or you can go to your closest friendly Asian supermarket (not racial) and look for their famed[hide] "metal eggs".[/hide] Those are pretty much dried up eggs that are really hard. You won't break one of those by squeezing it.
