Title: Stanley Cup Post by denis on Aug 31st, 2007, 6:31pm Anaheim Ducks beat the Ottawa Senators in the NHL Finals in June and won the Stanley Cup for the 2006-07 season. Yet the Stanley Cup is in Ottawa right now. What happened? |

Title: Re: Stanley Cup Post by mikedagr8 on Aug 31st, 2007, 6:59pm Well, it sounds like the trophy doesn't move around, it stays in one place. Similar to other sports. ::) E.g. The Ashes |

Title: Re: Stanley Cup Post by denis on Aug 31st, 2007, 7:02pm No... Unlike some other trophies the Stanley Cup does not stay in one place (other than the second copy that is displayed in the NHL Hall of Fame in Toronto) |

Title: Re: Stanley Cup Post by mikedagr8 on Sep 1st, 2007, 2:29am Is this a story or a true event? If true I'll just research ;D |

Title: Re: Stanley Cup Post by denis on Sep 1st, 2007, 4:23am Yes it's a true event. Hint: [hide]I know it was in Ottawa on August 30 and August 31, but it probably will have left the city by the end of today (Sept 1) if it already hasn't left[/hide] |

Title: Re: Stanley Cup Post by Archae on Sep 1st, 2007, 8:05am Correct me if I am wrong... but isn't it the case that every player on the winning team gets to keep the cup for a few days, such that the entire team has had the cup that year? Then, if one of the players from Anaheim lives in Ottawa, it is not that bizarre at all. |

Title: Re: Stanley Cup Post by denis on Sep 1st, 2007, 8:12am You got it, all of the players and coaches on the winning team keep the cup for one day and take it where they want. It turns out the player who brought it doesn't live in Ottawa since he lives in Anaheim. The next question is, who is the player that brought it here? |
