Title: Cut in half Post by TheNumberScott on Aug 19th, 2007, 12:32am A man cuts something in half, and then puts it right back together again, good as new, without using tape or glue. |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by towr on Aug 19th, 2007, 7:12am I'll go with pie. It wouldn't taste any worse for being cut in two, so it'd still be as good as [when] new (assuming there isn't too long a time between the 'newly baked' and 'being cut' stage.) ;) |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by Grimbal on Aug 19th, 2007, 2:50pm There are these things in quantum mechanics where one particle goes 2 ways simultaneously and can merge into one particle later. Another idea: Exodus comes to mind. But it wasn't a man, was it? So maybe Bruce and his tomato soup in "Bruce Almighty"? http://florian.net/pic/misc/bruce.jpg |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by TheNumberScott on Aug 19th, 2007, 4:56pm no to all. This took me probably 20 minutes of yes or no questioning to figure it out. And even once I had narrowed down every aspect of it through those questions, it still took me a couple minutes to figure out what they all added up to. |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by denis on Aug 19th, 2007, 7:52pm OK lets tray to break it down a bit: Was it something edible? Was it a solid? Was it a liquid? Or maybe something in between (Gellatenous or Colloidal) Was it a gas? |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by TheNumberScott on Aug 20th, 2007, 7:48am I'd say it's a non-edible solid. |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on Aug 20th, 2007, 10:13am A pile of marbles. Or a pile of anything else for that matter. |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by denis on Aug 20th, 2007, 10:15am Gallium is a solid metal at room temperature and melts at 85 degrees farenheight. Cut it in half. After you cut it in half, just warm up both ends with your hands which will melt the ends that you can put together again without glue or tape. Alternatively, you can warm the two pieces up in an regular oven a low temperature . When its all liquid, make it into one single block again and let it cool. |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by TheNumberScott on Aug 20th, 2007, 12:26pm you might call it a pile, I suppose, but I wouldn't. interesting idea denis, but this object is much more common for someone to have than a block of galium. |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by denis on Aug 21st, 2007, 7:16pm Was the solid object hard or malleable? |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by TheNumberScott on Aug 21st, 2007, 9:51pm I'd say it's somewhat malleable. |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by Grimbal on Aug 22nd, 2007, 12:39am A pair of shoes. The man just makes a step. And welcome to page 2. |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by TheNumberScott on Aug 22nd, 2007, 12:53am no, but that is in a way closer. This is something that is actually cut in half. I wouldn't consider, nor do I think anyone else would, taking a step to be cutting something in half. |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by Grimbal on Aug 22nd, 2007, 1:13am Hm... when it gets back together, is it just like before or a bit more shuffled? ::) |

This seems to contradict the intended answer. If a deck of cards is allowable, why not a plate of sliced bread? |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by TheNumberScott on Aug 22nd, 2007, 7:28pm because "cut the tower of sliced bread" isn't a term. "cut the cards" is. |
Title: Re: Cut in half Post by Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on Aug 23rd, 2007, 6:29am I agree that "cut the cards" is a commonly used phrase, but you did say that the answer would be something that was actually cut in half. Personally, I think that if a pile of cards being separated into two pieces is considered actually cut in half then a pile of anything separated into two pieces would be considered the same way, as actually cut in half. The commonality of the phrase "cut the cards" doesn't seem to change anything. But that's just me. :P |

Title: Re: Cut in half Post by CowsRUs on Aug 29th, 2007, 6:49pm Then play-doh could work, but it's not the answer he had in mind. |
