Title: Suicide Post by mikedagr8 on Jul 15th, 2007, 8:33pm A man was at the top of the tallest building in Melbourne (bonus marks if you know the newish building, and the number of storeys). He is on the rooftop before he makes a phonecall via his mobile phone. After his phonecall ends he jumps over the edge. his phone starts to ring when he is falling. He screams and dies. Why does he scream, why does he decide to kill himself, and what possible person did he decide to call (lots of answers to the call)? |

Title: Re: Suicide Post by Archae on Jul 15th, 2007, 10:08pm Well, the question of who he called is certainly open-ended. I would say presumably a female, considering the situation. I know the answer I believe that you are after - the riddle always seemed a bit flimsy to me. I would certainly not take his actions, I can say that much. |

Title: Re: Suicide Post by mikedagr8 on Jul 15th, 2007, 10:37pm if you know the answer, please go ahead and state it, there is one specific answer i am after for the calls, but there are plenty of plausible ones. ;) |

Title: Re: Suicide Post by towr on Jul 16th, 2007, 12:51am There's a very similar riddle where the jumper doesn't first make a phone call himself. In that case he thinks everyone in the world is dead (or something), and getting called makes him realizes he's mistaken. Perhaps the second call is a text-message with "april fools". And the first call was to his stock broker that told him he was now bankrupt. |

Well, considering he is falling from the highest building in Melbourne, I'd say it is not so much of an extravagant behavior. |

Title: Re: Suicide Post by mikedagr8 on Jul 16th, 2007, 1:46am towr, your correct in that everyone is dead and he screams when he is called, but who did he call? |

He call back to the stock broker and told that he is flying from the top of the building. So, they can talk after. |

His mother / father / brother / sister / wife / children.. Or maybe he called the stunt guys who's preparing the bed he's supposed to fall on, only to realise they're still not back from their coffee break. ::) |

Title: Re: Suicide Post by mikedagr8 on Jul 17th, 2007, 1:40am Nice, all plausible, but there is still one I thought of first when i heard the puzzle, i will end this soon, I don't think anyone is going to get it. P.S. Stockbroker is my favourite so far. |

If I call [hide]Oprah, and she doesn't answer right away, I would still jump just in case she answers the next second. And of course I would scream if she does. [/hide] |
