Title: Stormy weather
Post by Iceman on Jul 15th, 2007, 10:59am
All that Timothy had with him was a needle and suture. He got wounded, and because of the breeze, he wasn't able to patch up his wound properly. What happened?

Maybe the breeze was blowing dirt or dust into the wound and he knew he couldn’t patch it up if there was anything inside it?

He got wounded on one hand and could not thread the suture into the needle using both hands. By using one hand he can hang the suture onto a low tree branch and then push the needle hole through the end of the suture but the breeze made the suture jump around too much.

No to both.

Maybe he was on a boat? The wind was causing waves that made the boat heave.

Perhaps the only fabric he had was the sail on his boat.  Had there been no breeze, he might have used the sail.  Since there was a breeze he decided to leave the sail up and attempt to make land before fixing himself up.

No boats.

Perhaps the wound was on his cheek or forehead. The breeze kept blowing his long hair onto the wound  while we was putting in the stitches.

He is windsurfing.  Have you ever tried to put a thread in the hole of a needle while windsurfing?

He was hang-gliding and the breeze smashed him into the cliff before he could stitch himself up.  ;D

the "breeze" was a tornado or hurricane.

Some answers are on the right track. In a weird way, the riddle might be solved, :-/but we need an optimal answer here.   ;)

Perhaps he was mountain climbing where he slipped and hurt himself and he was hanging by the rope. Because of breeze he couldn't get a proper holding to stich himself up...

No mountains, but he was relaxing, so he wasn't home.  :P

His tie got stuck on a wind-powered irrigation system.  Because of the breeze, he is pulled up and down in the water.

No, but one word of your guess has to do with the solution, including breeze, of course.

I'm going to guess it wasn't "irrigation"...

On the right track?  Like a train for instance?  A wind-powered train?

Of course. What you think?

Somehow you always manage to leave out something pertinent (e.g. liquids be it flammable or not)  from your riddles... I know I know...it would be too easy if you gave out all the info right off the bat.

OK lets see... He fell off Niagara Falls without a barrel (after all you said only suture and needle). As he was falling, the breeze pushed him slightly just enough to land onto the rocks and made his first wound kind of a non-issue.

No.

The suture was soaked from the cold freezing rain. Temperature was just below 0 degrees centigrade. The breeze and wind was enough to freeze the water on the suture thus rendering the suture inflexible.

This is hard for me to say: it wasn't cold.  :'(

On a boat ship in stormy weather (which is just a very strong and violent breeze ...)?

I am going to give a big clue: [hide]Narcissus[/hide].

Title: Re: Stormy weather
Post by denis on Jul 26th, 2007, 2:12pm
Yep that is a big clue indeed.

The wound is therefore on a place he could not see without a mirror. He has to use something to replace the mirror.... Something that gets affected by the breeze..... As he gazes into the pond or lake, his reflection is distorted by the little waves from the breeze.

Yes. Well, for some reason I thought that you considered the intended answer before, but you didn't say it because it sounds to simple.  ::)

Bonus question, where is the wound located, aside from the face, as such he would need a mirror ( or a mirrorlike object ) to sew it up ?  :P
