Title: Store
Post by Iceman on Jun 4th, 2007, 3:55pm
There is a shootout in a store between two men with guns, where one has two additional loaded guns on his person. And at one moment, the other one empties his only gun by shooting bottles. Why?

the bottles fall and knock out the guy? because they want to arrest and not kill the bad guy?

Bottles are full of nitric acid so when they are struck they will spray onto the other man and eat him alive.  ;)

He can't aim?  He is blind?  He hates alcohol?

He broke into a lab to exchange urine samples that proved he won a race by taking drugs.  The police arrived before he managed to do the switch.  But he was so close.  So as a last resort, he shot the incriminating samples from the shelf.

his store is insured for property damage but not for burglary so he destroys his stock of liquor.

He shoots the bottles of liquor over the other mans head igniting the liquor which rains down on him burning him and stopping him from using his guns.  ;)

You got it ima1trkpny. 8) And I suppose you are aware that a speeding bullet cannot ignite liquor like that? Just checking.  ;) Oh and other guesses are fine efforts.   :-*

So... if that doesn't work, how come it's the intended answer?

She got the idea right. As for igniting alcohol, use your imagination. He most probably used a lighter. In the movie From dusk till dawn, the protagonist used his lighter and toilet paper from the above liquor store.

Iceman... seriously... how many movies have you seen??? Are you a film critic or something or just a movie junky?  ;) LOL I have to say I love all the absolutely crazy scenarios you find for riddles.

I am just a movie junky. I have two towers of Hollywood movies in my room. But most of them are pretty old, as most new ones are getting worse and worse if you ask me. So, out of despair, I just had to compensate with riddles.  ;)

Unfortunately, most Hollywood movies include sequences that are outside the possibility of science.  A lot of these are pointed out on Mythbusters, although a lot of older movies got things right.  So stick with the old movies, but know that Hollywood still puts out something good every so often; just not as often as they used to.  Oh well.

And the absolute worst movie in that respect, the most offending to physics is: "The Core".

http://www.intuitor.com/moviephysics/core.html

It is so bad, I would actually recommend it.

Well, with reference to From Dusk till Dawn, the zombie scenario depicted in the movie is not really plausible, is it ? Compared to that, the climax seems almost realisitic..  ;D
