Title: Painter Post by Iceman on May 17th, 2007, 9:55am The housepainter is at the beginning of painting a room in red, when he asks his boss to give him the rise. He replies: 'If you paint these walls in red by using the least paint & w/o leaving the room, I will give you the rise.' |

Title: Re: Painter Post by towr on May 17th, 2007, 10:00am Is the painter a psychopath? Because I have one idea for an answer which would require no paint at all ;D |

Title: Re: Painter Post by Iceman on May 17th, 2007, 10:54am There is everything he needs in the room to paint the walls, bucket of paint included. ;) |
||
Title: Re: Painter Post by fatball on May 17th, 2007, 11:00am why did the boss have to emphasize 'without leaving the room'? |
||
Title: Re: Painter Post by Grimbal on May 17th, 2007, 11:07am If he waits for the sunset, the walls might be red, but you couldn't say he painted them. |

Title: Re: Painter Post by towr on May 17th, 2007, 11:13am Thinning down the paint with solvant should help to use less. Of course how red that leaves the walls is another matter (it might end up pink). I suppose he could paint himself red, or wear red clothes, and then paint the room (while) in red. |

Title: Re: Painter Post by denis on May 17th, 2007, 11:47am He painted the words "these walls" in small letters on one of the walls using just a little bit of red paint and thus fullfilled his contract. |

Title: Re: Painter Post by fatball on May 17th, 2007, 11:52am or, he may be playing Lego with his boss. |

Title: Re: Painter Post by Iceman on May 20th, 2007, 10:15am No paper. He must use paint. |

Title: Re: Painter Post by denis on May 20th, 2007, 10:22am Is the type of room he is painting (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen ... ) significant in this scenario? |

Title: Re: Painter Post by Iceman on May 20th, 2007, 11:23am Not really. |
||
Title: Re: Painter Post by Grimbal on May 20th, 2007, 1:58pm What about towr's first idea: he paints the room with his own blood? |
||
Title: Re: Painter Post by Iceman on May 20th, 2007, 2:51pm Paint has to be used, not blood. He is not that desperate for rise to cut himself. ;) |
||
Title: Re: Painter Post by Grimbal on May 20th, 2007, 3:02pm OK. To properly paint a rough wall, you'll first need to put plaster on. So he just puts a thick layer of plaster, actually that thick that the room size is, say, just enough to operate a brush of paint. That should minimize the paint. Or more extreme: fill the room with plaster, drill a small hole in the wall where there was a door, and cover the inside with a very fine layer of paint. |
