Title: Notice
Post by Iceman on Apr 25th, 2007, 7:22am
Tom notices that the floor is entirely dry, and thinks to himself that John might be significantly longer in a lot of pain. Why?  ???

Title: Re: Notice

John is a dog with a severe urinary tract infection meaning he cannot urinate. Unfortunately after being left alone for a day in the back yard the entirely dry ground suggests that it'll take a lot longer for the antibiotics to do the job and he'll be significantly longer in a lot of pain.

or

Tom is the foreman and realising that John still hasn't got around to varnishing the wooden floor in the foyer entrance - it's entirely dry - means he must still be outside painting the the render. With John being the only painter on the crew and his bad back it looks like he'll be significantly longer in a lot of pain.

John is a man, but he isn't the foreman.

John does the free skate of his life in the Olympics figure skating competition so that after the skate, he kisses the ice and gets his tongue stuck on the cold dry surface. The ice workers scramble to get warm water to melt the ice around his mouth. When Tom returns from the food consession, he notices that the ice surface is still dry and hence, John is still stuck to the ice and in pain.

Finally, the ice workers arrive to the rescue and free his erstwhile stuck tongue.

Moral of the story: Take the advice of the pros:

"I may be French-Canadian but there was no tongue in that kiss on the ice." said David Pelletier, after 2002 Olympic pairs free skate in Salt Lake which gave him and Salé the silver and was later upgraded to Gold.

chromosonally he was born a man, only physically-had a gender change

Title: Re: Notice

Then he wouldn't be able to get pregnant.

Though, he could have that rare testostorone defect where his sex chromosomes are XY, but he doesn't produce much testostorone and so he has a woman's body.

Title: Re: Notice
Post by ima1trkpny on May 21st, 2007, 5:49pm
oh trust me LOL... it can happen. it is entirely possible to give a man changing to a woman's gender the equipment also... there are numerous possible ways to end up with something that can be termed "male" while leaving it with the ability to carry a fetus to term... however this is obviously not the answer he wants... so i will move on to other possibilities however much i like this one  ;)

[hide]John has been wrapped in wet leather rawhide (some of which had spilled on the floor) by a bad guy and since the water is now gone from the floor, John is being squeezed to death slowly and painfully as the rawhide dries[/hide]

Title: Re: Notice
Post by Grimbal on May 22nd, 2007, 2:52am
John really needs to go.  If he didn't control himself, the floor would be wet but the urge would go away.  But John has a strong will.  The floor is dry so the pain must be great.
Of course, it is Tom who is occupying the toilet, just to see how long John can make it.

Tom is standing on the floor of an inground pool and has noticed that it is dry. That leaves no water for John, who has just jumped from a diving board, to land in. Being a tall diving board, it will put him in quite a lot of pain.

Title: Re: Notice
Post by denis on May 23rd, 2007, 3:08pm
Tom and John are at the dry-docks working on a riddle which asks to paint the bottom of a boat using least amount of red paint. A accident occurs that gets Tom pinned under a heavy piece of equipment  that John cannot lift by himself.

When the tide will arrive, it will relieve Tom of the burden since the equipment is made of wood and floats in the water.

The water is now just about level with the dry dock floor and some waves pass over and get the floor wet. Just a few more feet to reach Tom and the equipment.

John went out to get help and could not find any. When he returns he notices the floor is entirely dry and concludes that the tide went out (not in) so John will suffer for another 12 hours.

Tom is in the shower.  He just opened the tap, but there still is no water.  Tom hasn't washed for a week, but what can he do?  John will have to suffer.

Tom and John are neighbors in the same apartment complex. There is a fire in John's room, and John is in it, presumably burning. Tom runs into the hall, hits the fire alarm, and goes back into his room. He notices that the floor is dry, meaning the sprinklers have not gone off and that John will be in a lot of pain, burning, for a long time.

John painted himself in a corner.

He is waiting for the paint to dry.

Tom realizes that the paint is dry but is so shiny that it looks wet.  He understands that John is so dumb that he is likely to wait a long, long time.

Tom is standing outside a sauna/steam room and realises that John has not left the sauna room for quite a while (presumably he fell asleep in it). Otherwise the floor outside the sauna would be wet from the steam.

There were things like that in old westerns.

Right, let's give this one a go.

Tom and John are both construction workers. Tom has just laid the concrete for a new floor and left it to dry. John hasn't realised and slips on the concrete, breaks his ankle and passes out with the pain. When he comes to, his screams of pain bring Tom running. Tom notices that the floor is entirely dry, and thinks to himself that John might be significantly longer in a lot of pain - he will have to be broken out of the set concrete before his ankle can be treated.

And forget about the 'significantly' part. I'm not sure if that is the appropriate word. So he thinks to himself that John might be longer in a lot of pain.

Tom is a torturer. He has John on the rack. When he comes to the torture chamber and sees that John has not ripped in two (so the floor would be dry) he realises that John will be "longer" (length-wise) and in a lot of pain.

My God, that's horrible! Unless of course it's the right answer, in which case it's ingenious  :) It does explain the "longer" though.

Iceman - "significantly" isn't important then. Is "entirely" really entirely? If the floor was just a little bit wet would things be different? Is this floor even in the same place as John?

I'm a bit annoyed at myself for being so intrigued by this one: I only came here to check an answer for one of the standard ones on the main page!

Title: Re: Notice
Post by JiNbOtAk on May 30th, 2007, 7:03pm
John is impaled to a wall. The stick impaling him strikes right at his artery, which is why he is in excruciating pain, while at the same time not bleeding. Tom noticed this, and know that to save John, he need to pull out the stick, thus letting John bleed, and wetting the floor.

Maybe Tom is about to execute John using a primitive form of an electric chair, using conductence to the floor for the kill. Since the floor is not wet, it is less conductive, and higher current must be used for a longer time.
