Title: Round the corner Post by Death on Apr 17th, 2007, 3:50pm Ok, I'm pretty sure that the uberpuzzlers out there will get this one in no time so if you could, as ever, only leave cryptic clues that would be great ;D A man pushes his car around a corner and gets paid £200 for it. Why? |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by denis on Apr 17th, 2007, 9:00pm The car was owned by a certain Parker and has a brother. |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by towr on Apr 18th, 2007, 1:48am He'd have gotten more if he had stopped at the corner.. |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Death on Apr 18th, 2007, 1:25pm Yep you guys have pretty much got the idea (and love the clues). Except possibly Icarus... ;) |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Archae on Apr 18th, 2007, 6:09pm Getting twice the amount of money (i.e. $400) if the person in question got lucky and stopped on the corner rather than just passing it - is that a regional thing, or would those Parkers agree with towr? I dont have the resources to check right now, but I always wondered... |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Icarus on Apr 18th, 2007, 6:35pm It's not an official rule, but it is a well-known and widely practiced variant. (And no, I didn't have the answer when I posted before. I will say in my defense that I didn't really try to find one.) |

Why? Because he was waiting at the traffic lights and a bloke comes up to the driver's window and says, "Hey, mate, I'll give you £200 if you push your car around the corner." ::) |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Archae on Apr 19th, 2007, 1:48am Sir Col, it would have been a better deal if I could have pushed my wheelbarrow around the corner - or better yet, my thimble. A car seems tough to push around a corner by myself. But for £200, I guess I'd try. |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Grimbal on Apr 19th, 2007, 2:15am It could be the car broke down, it is blocking the whole traffic, and someone tries to motivate you to move it out of the way. Or maybe it is just one of these silly bets you do when you are drunk. Maybe a police officer is standing outside of the parking lot and your friends want to see what he thinks of someone who pushes his car claiming he is too drunk to drive. |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Iceman on Apr 19th, 2007, 2:55am He owns a cab, and this particular passenger is a midget who is agoraphobic and also scared of the sound the car produces. Or his car was blocking an entire cross section, and one of the delayed drivers was a Nigerian king Bombata. A loan shark was recruiting him, so he tested him to see how strong and resourceful he really is. Hic car was out of gas, but since a husband wants to give him £200 to drive his car over his wife, well.. |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Sir Col on Apr 19th, 2007, 9:00am Perhaps he's in a race: in a battle to the finishing line he pushes his car (to the limit) around the corner and is caught on film by a photographer who agrees to pay him £200 for the action shot. |

I don't know about that; if his car is pushing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Understeer) through the corner he's more likely to end up nose-first into the wall than in an action shot. ;D --SMQ |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by tiber13 on Apr 20th, 2007, 5:59pm Got it. as soon as i raed the riddle, Parker is suposed to be a clue, and another one [hide][/hide] houses [hide][/hide]. oh, and the awnser[hide][/hide] monopoly, pushed his car, to S.James place, and there were 2 houses there, and he had to pay 200 dollars rent.[hide][/hide] |

Title: Re: Round the corner Post by Icarus on Apr 20th, 2007, 7:27pm Easier than that, tiber13. It says he gets paid £200, not that he has to pay. The corner he pushed his car around is "GO". Unfortunately, he stopped on "Taxes" and had to pay it all back. :'( |
